Kuruvi -150 days of celebrating Vijay and Trisha

Vijay starrer 'Kuruvi' has managed a 150-day run across theatres in Tamilnadu. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and directed by Dharani, the movie featuring Vijay, Trisha and Suman in the lead roles, witnessed mixed reviews at the box office.

However, thanks to the racy script and Vijay's popularity among the masses, the movie opened big and gradually settled down to do a decent business at the box office.

The cast and crew thanked the film-buffs for helping the movie complete a 150-day run. According to director Dharani, "I thank the producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, actor Vijay and the rest of my crew for the successes".

Post 'Gilli', Vijay-Dharani-Trisha and music composer Vidyasagar tag teamed for 'Kuruvi'. Fortunately, they succeeded in their attempt.

Vijay overtakes Rajini

Now and then Lloyola College conducts opinion polls. This time, the results are quite interesting. Late actors are more favored when compared to present day actors. With regard to actresses also, olden day heroines eclipse the new breed.

Among actors, MGR takes top spot as usual with 21.3 % of votes. His film 'Nadodi Mannan' emerged a favorite. In second spot is Sivaji with 18.9 % votes and his best film was 'Paasa Malar.'

For the first time, Vijay has overtaken Rajini. Vijay got 16.4 & votes and Rajini got 16.2. Vijay's 'Gilli' and Rajini's 'Basha' were voted their best. Vijayakanth gets the fifth spot with 'Captain Prabakaran' as his best film.

Among actresses, Saroja Devi gets top spot followed by Jayalalitha and KR Vijaya. Today's actresses come only after these top 3 yesteryear actresses. Jyotika is in 4th place, and Khushboo in 5th place.

“Vijay will enter politics” - S.A.Chandrashekar

"Vijay would surely get into politics and there is no doubt about it. He has been acquiring all the good attributes of working for the well-being of society and my son is worth ruling the people". Are you guessing who could have uttered such confident statement? Of course, he is none other than Vijay's father S.A. Chandrashekar.

In a recent Television channel interview, while he was put to question about his son Vijay launching Fans Club Flag, he had this reply. Continuing to add during the interview, Chandrashekar said that Vijay would surely get into politics, once he is perfectly done acquiring all the qualities as he had done before getting into acting.

'Varanam Aayiram', 'Aegan' in USA

'Aegan' and 'Varanam Ayiram' are slated for release on the 24th and 28th of October respectively. Latest developments are that Bharat Creations, a leading distributor of Tamil and Telugu films in the United States of America has acquired the distribution rights for these films. Vikram's 'Kandasamy' and Vijay's 'Villu' which would release much later have also been acquired by Bharat Creations.

Both 'Varanam Ayiram' and 'Aegan' are expected to do very well. Suriya is at his best in 'Varanam Ayiram', which chronicles the life of a man from childhood to old age. Suriya has undergone drastic physical changes to portray the physical characteristics associated with youth and middle age. Surya will be seen in dual roles. For director Gautham Menon this is his seventh film and his earlier movie with Suriya "Kaaka Kaaka" turned out to be a major blockbuster. The Gautham Menon - Harris Jayaraj - Suriya team is all set to recreate the magic once again. Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana and Simran co-star with Suriya.

'Aegan' is the debut film for Raju Sundaram as director. The film stars Ajith and is the remake of the successful Hindi movie 'Main Hoon Na'. Nayantara, Navdeep, Suhasini Ratnam, Nassar and Jayaram will also be seen in the film. The combo of Ajith and Nayantara is highly anticipated as both sizzled together in 'Billa'. Ajith - Nayantara - Yuvan Shankar Raja, the people behind 'Billa' are expected to conjure the magic once again with 'Aegan'.

Vijay & Ajith in AVM

Villu team is back from their Euro trip that lasted for about a month. As soon as the crew returned, the next leg of shooting seemed to have begun at AVM Studios. Scenes of Nayantara meeting Vijay in his office, the plush interiors of which were made to reflect an office abroad, were shot. Although the team was in Europe for quite some time, the indoor shoots that demand continuity are to be shot in Chennai.

Interestingly, Ajith has also been spotted these days in the AVM Studios. Aegan is more or less wrapped up completely and is ready for a Diwali release. Post-production works are in full swing and Ajith is busy with the dubbing which would go on for three days, sources mentioned.

Asin in Vettaikaran

One could add Asin to the list but she seems to have decided to remain stuck to Bollywood. No wonder there was a hassle to sign a heroine for Vijay's 'Vettaikaran.' Since Nayantara is in 'Villu,' she can't be cast for 'Vettaikaran.' Fans did not quite cheer Trisha as Vijay's heroine in 'Kuruvi.' Shriya has just sung duets with Vijay in 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan.'

There were rumours that Ileana was approached for the 'Vettaikaran' role but that was all it was – a rumour. The producers say they never thought of Ileana as their only aim was at Asin.

Asin is at present outside India shooting for 'London Dreams.' Since it's a Vijay film, she gave her call sheet immediately.

'Vettaikaran' shooting starts in November.

Vijay's Villu not for Deepavali

Here is an shocking news for Vijay's fans.  Their hero's movie Villu will be released only for Pongal and not for this Deepavali.

To be noted here is that the producer of Ajith's Aegan, Ayngaran, is producing Vijay's Villu.

While Aegan is complete is getting ready for release the producer decided to release Ajith's movie first.  Lots of work has to be completed for Villu and hence the decision.

Vettaikaran -Vijay and Ileana?

Ilayathalapathy Vijay wanted to cast Ileana as his heroine for a long time.

Finally, it looks like it is happening. She is almost certain to be his heroine in AVM Balasubramaniam's new film Vettaikaran to be directed by debutant Babu Sivan, a former assistant of Dharani.

Ileana has done just one film in Tamil KD which bombed, however she has a couple of hits in Telugu like Pokkiri with Mahesh Babu.

She is said to be a lucky star, and her demand it seems is that she should be paid her market rate in Telugu which is said to be around Rs 1.25 crore!

So is Ileana now on par with Nayantara, as far as her salary is concerned?

It was ealier rumoured that Vijay will be pairing with Ileana in the upcomming movie Villu directed by Prabu Deva, but finally Nayantara was roped in opposite to him.

Nayantara and Vadivelu Duet Song in Villu

Vijay-Nayantara starrer Villu is moving on at a breakneck speed. The film has garnered huge expectations as the winning combination Vijay and director Prabhu Deva are back together. It may be recalled that their Pokkiri was a smash hit.
The director had filmed a song sequence in which Vadivelu and Asin danced to the tunes of Suttum Vizhi Chudare in Pokkiri, which created a laugh riot among the audience. He once again intends to do the same but this time it's Nayantara who will be shaking her legs with Vadivelu for the song "My name is Billa." This song will be filmed on the floors of AVM Studios.

Vijay in ‘Vettaikaran’

After completing 'Villu', Vijay will shoot for the movie 'Vettaikaran', a title inspired by yesteryear MGR hit.

'Vettaikaran' would be directed by Babu Sivan, an associate of director Dharani. To be produced by AVM Balasubramaniam, the movie is touted to be an action-packed entertainer, quite typical of Vijay film.

Sources close to the project say Ileana would be playing the female lead in the movie. The sought-after heroine in Tollywood, Ileana made her debut in Tamil with 'Kedi'. She managed to render a string of successful movies in Telugu establishing herself as a numero uno actress there.

Efforts were made to bring her back to Tamil cinema. But all ended in vain. Buzz is that AVM has managed to convince her to make a comeback in Tamil with 'Vettaikaran'.

Vijay in Prakashraj production

Prakashraj, while leaving for the Toronto Film Festival (where his film Kancheepuram will be screened), informed reporters that he will soon produce a film starring Vijay and will come out with more details about it in the near future.

Prakashraj runs a film production company, Duet, which has produced films such as Azhagiya Theeye, Poi, Mozhi, and Velli Thirai that were well-apprecieated by audiences and film critics. His films have very good themes and storylines, splendid screenplays, and above all, maverick and attractive advertising; for example, the promos of Azhagiya Theeye.

At present, the suave filmmaker is producing and acting in Abhiyum Naanum, whose audio will be launched on September 27th by Kalaignar Karunanidhi and his daughter Kanimozhi (as the film reflects the sentiments and emotions pertaining to father-daughter relationship). Prakashraj had given a beautiful performance in Kancheepuram  a film by Priyadarshan  alongside Shreya Reddy. The film, which is based on true incidents, speaks about weavers of Kancheepuram, who were an ill-treated sector of the society in the 40s, and their revolt against the oppressing authorities and system. The versatile actor is also producing Mayilu, which also will be released soon.

Vijay is afraid of Nayantara

Vijay's most expected Villu is to hit the screen for Pongal 2009.  Vijay is starring with Nayantara and Vijay is worried a lot about the luck of his pair.

Almost majority of Nayantara movies are failing in box office and none of the movie which projected and advertised a lot about Nayantara is sure for flop.  Example:  Kuselan and Sathyam

Vijay is said to be advising his producer not to highlight much on Nayantara.

Villu gets delayed

ts Kamalhassan who identified Bollywood's Devi Sri Prasad as his music director for the movie Dasavatharam.

After Dasavatharam, Kollywood went begging with Prasad giving opportunities and money and two movies, Kandasamy and Villu managed to book him as their music director!

Prasad has done his job for the movie Kandasamy, while for Villu, he is yet to put the Pillaiyaar Suli!

Only one song for Villu is complete, which Vijay is not happy.

Vijay to fight and dance in 'Pandhayam'?

Director S A Chandrasekhar's 'Pandhayam' starring Nithin Sathya, Prakash Raj and Sindhu Tolani is almost complete.

Buzz is that Vijay had performed in a guest role in the film. He plays the actor himself. Sources close to the director say, 'Chandrasekhar has accommodated more scenes than originally planned for Vijay in the movie.

Though initial plans were to cast Vijay in a small cameo, the director has ended up shooting a stunt sequence and a song featuring his son'.

However he has chosen to keep details about Vijay's role inside the closet as of now considering the 'Kuselan' fiasco. More scenes for Vijay would be good news for Vijay fans. Obviously they would love to see more of their favorite hero on screen.
