Villu director changes track!

Prabudeva who is directing the film 'Villu' will be a hero again.

When acting did not get him success, Prabudeva took to directing.  He was lucky that his films were successful. He is one of the leading directors in Telugu cinema.  His first directorial venture 'Pokkiri' was a thumping success.  Now he is directing 'Villu' with Vijay.

But he still longs to be a successful hero.  Now he has got another chance.  He seems to like the story narrated by Ravi Chakravarthy who produced 'Allaudin' with him.  He is likely to take up acting in the film after completion of 'Villu'.

He is also getting many chances to act in Telugu films.  He has got a chance to act in a Tamil film by Thankar Bachan.  So, he has decided to rest from directing films forsome time.  Even while directing films, he may act in films.

It is a good decision and we wish him all the best.

Vijay attends Art Exhibition

The 140th Gandhi Jayanthi celebration at the Raj Bhavan was a memorable event with His Excellency Governor Surjit Singh Barnala inaugurating the paintings of the Chennai-based painter A.P. Sreedhar. There were 18 paintings in all and each one of it had an apt title. The paintings exhibited released Gandhiji's conviction, defiance, affection, determination and perseverance among others. Speaking at the event, the Governor recalled his interactions with Mahatma Gandhi.

All the paintings had a commentary to it which makes the exhibition even more interesting. Noted actor Vijay, along his father and director S.A.Chandrasekar visited that exhibition and was in awe with Sreedhar's work.

Aamir Khan is a great fan of Vijay

Any guesses how Aamir Khan and Vijay could have been so close friends? Well, we have Murugadoss himself speaking about this in an interview. While Shooting for the Hindi Ghajini in Ramoji Film City, Vijay met Murugadoss and asked whether he could visit the shooting sets of Ghajini. With no space for any reluctance, Murugadoss had taken Vijay to the sets and got introduced him to Aamir Khan.

Fine! It was a great surprise for Vijay as Aamir recognized him so easily and hugged him. "I am your great fan. Me and my wife have really enjoyed your dance as we saw on television channels while we were staying in Chennai" said Aamir Khan. Both of them spent a great time there and shared experiences of shooting for their own projects…

Kuruvi -150 days of celebrating Vijay and Trisha

Vijay starrer 'Kuruvi' has managed a 150-day run across theatres in Tamilnadu. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and directed by Dharani, the movie featuring Vijay, Trisha and Suman in the lead roles, witnessed mixed reviews at the box office.

However, thanks to the racy script and Vijay's popularity among the masses, the movie opened big and gradually settled down to do a decent business at the box office.

The cast and crew thanked the film-buffs for helping the movie complete a 150-day run. According to director Dharani, "I thank the producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, actor Vijay and the rest of my crew for the successes".

Post 'Gilli', Vijay-Dharani-Trisha and music composer Vidyasagar tag teamed for 'Kuruvi'. Fortunately, they succeeded in their attempt.

Vijay overtakes Rajini

Now and then Lloyola College conducts opinion polls. This time, the results are quite interesting. Late actors are more favored when compared to present day actors. With regard to actresses also, olden day heroines eclipse the new breed.

Among actors, MGR takes top spot as usual with 21.3 % of votes. His film 'Nadodi Mannan' emerged a favorite. In second spot is Sivaji with 18.9 % votes and his best film was 'Paasa Malar.'

For the first time, Vijay has overtaken Rajini. Vijay got 16.4 & votes and Rajini got 16.2. Vijay's 'Gilli' and Rajini's 'Basha' were voted their best. Vijayakanth gets the fifth spot with 'Captain Prabakaran' as his best film.

Among actresses, Saroja Devi gets top spot followed by Jayalalitha and KR Vijaya. Today's actresses come only after these top 3 yesteryear actresses. Jyotika is in 4th place, and Khushboo in 5th place.

“Vijay will enter politics” - S.A.Chandrashekar

"Vijay would surely get into politics and there is no doubt about it. He has been acquiring all the good attributes of working for the well-being of society and my son is worth ruling the people". Are you guessing who could have uttered such confident statement? Of course, he is none other than Vijay's father S.A. Chandrashekar.

In a recent Television channel interview, while he was put to question about his son Vijay launching Fans Club Flag, he had this reply. Continuing to add during the interview, Chandrashekar said that Vijay would surely get into politics, once he is perfectly done acquiring all the qualities as he had done before getting into acting.

'Varanam Aayiram', 'Aegan' in USA

'Aegan' and 'Varanam Ayiram' are slated for release on the 24th and 28th of October respectively. Latest developments are that Bharat Creations, a leading distributor of Tamil and Telugu films in the United States of America has acquired the distribution rights for these films. Vikram's 'Kandasamy' and Vijay's 'Villu' which would release much later have also been acquired by Bharat Creations.

Both 'Varanam Ayiram' and 'Aegan' are expected to do very well. Suriya is at his best in 'Varanam Ayiram', which chronicles the life of a man from childhood to old age. Suriya has undergone drastic physical changes to portray the physical characteristics associated with youth and middle age. Surya will be seen in dual roles. For director Gautham Menon this is his seventh film and his earlier movie with Suriya "Kaaka Kaaka" turned out to be a major blockbuster. The Gautham Menon - Harris Jayaraj - Suriya team is all set to recreate the magic once again. Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana and Simran co-star with Suriya.

'Aegan' is the debut film for Raju Sundaram as director. The film stars Ajith and is the remake of the successful Hindi movie 'Main Hoon Na'. Nayantara, Navdeep, Suhasini Ratnam, Nassar and Jayaram will also be seen in the film. The combo of Ajith and Nayantara is highly anticipated as both sizzled together in 'Billa'. Ajith - Nayantara - Yuvan Shankar Raja, the people behind 'Billa' are expected to conjure the magic once again with 'Aegan'.

Vijay & Ajith in AVM

Villu team is back from their Euro trip that lasted for about a month. As soon as the crew returned, the next leg of shooting seemed to have begun at AVM Studios. Scenes of Nayantara meeting Vijay in his office, the plush interiors of which were made to reflect an office abroad, were shot. Although the team was in Europe for quite some time, the indoor shoots that demand continuity are to be shot in Chennai.

Interestingly, Ajith has also been spotted these days in the AVM Studios. Aegan is more or less wrapped up completely and is ready for a Diwali release. Post-production works are in full swing and Ajith is busy with the dubbing which would go on for three days, sources mentioned.

Asin in Vettaikaran

One could add Asin to the list but she seems to have decided to remain stuck to Bollywood. No wonder there was a hassle to sign a heroine for Vijay's 'Vettaikaran.' Since Nayantara is in 'Villu,' she can't be cast for 'Vettaikaran.' Fans did not quite cheer Trisha as Vijay's heroine in 'Kuruvi.' Shriya has just sung duets with Vijay in 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan.'

There were rumours that Ileana was approached for the 'Vettaikaran' role but that was all it was – a rumour. The producers say they never thought of Ileana as their only aim was at Asin.

Asin is at present outside India shooting for 'London Dreams.' Since it's a Vijay film, she gave her call sheet immediately.

'Vettaikaran' shooting starts in November.

Vijay's Villu not for Deepavali

Here is an shocking news for Vijay's fans.  Their hero's movie Villu will be released only for Pongal and not for this Deepavali.

To be noted here is that the producer of Ajith's Aegan, Ayngaran, is producing Vijay's Villu.

While Aegan is complete is getting ready for release the producer decided to release Ajith's movie first.  Lots of work has to be completed for Villu and hence the decision.

Vettaikaran -Vijay and Ileana?

Ilayathalapathy Vijay wanted to cast Ileana as his heroine for a long time.

Finally, it looks like it is happening. She is almost certain to be his heroine in AVM Balasubramaniam's new film Vettaikaran to be directed by debutant Babu Sivan, a former assistant of Dharani.

Ileana has done just one film in Tamil KD which bombed, however she has a couple of hits in Telugu like Pokkiri with Mahesh Babu.

She is said to be a lucky star, and her demand it seems is that she should be paid her market rate in Telugu which is said to be around Rs 1.25 crore!

So is Ileana now on par with Nayantara, as far as her salary is concerned?

Actor Vijay is all set to become the hunter in his next movie Vettaikarran, which he is expected to star after the completion of his current movie Villu. The film is being produced by M. Balasubramanian and B.Gurunath Meiyappan.

This is the first time the actor is doing a movie under the AVM banner. If sources are correct, Ileana would be playing the female lead in the movie Vettaikaran along with 'Ilayathalapathy' Vijay.

It was ealier rumoured that Vijay will be pairing with Ileana in the upcomming movie Villu directed by Prabu Deva, but finally Nayantara was roped in opposite to him.

Nayantara and Vadivelu Duet Song in Villu

Vijay-Nayantara starrer Villu is moving on at a breakneck speed. The film has garnered huge expectations as the winning combination Vijay and director Prabhu Deva are back together. It may be recalled that their Pokkiri was a smash hit.
The director had filmed a song sequence in which Vadivelu and Asin danced to the tunes of Suttum Vizhi Chudare in Pokkiri, which created a laugh riot among the audience. He once again intends to do the same but this time it's Nayantara who will be shaking her legs with Vadivelu for the song "My name is Billa." This song will be filmed on the floors of AVM Studios.

Vijay in ‘Vettaikaran’

After completing 'Villu', Vijay will shoot for the movie 'Vettaikaran', a title inspired by yesteryear MGR hit.

'Vettaikaran' would be directed by Babu Sivan, an associate of director Dharani. To be produced by AVM Balasubramaniam, the movie is touted to be an action-packed entertainer, quite typical of Vijay film.

Sources close to the project say Ileana would be playing the female lead in the movie. The sought-after heroine in Tollywood, Ileana made her debut in Tamil with 'Kedi'. She managed to render a string of successful movies in Telugu establishing herself as a numero uno actress there.

Efforts were made to bring her back to Tamil cinema. But all ended in vain. Buzz is that AVM has managed to convince her to make a comeback in Tamil with 'Vettaikaran'.

Vijay in Prakashraj production

Prakashraj, while leaving for the Toronto Film Festival (where his film Kancheepuram will be screened), informed reporters that he will soon produce a film starring Vijay and will come out with more details about it in the near future.

Prakashraj runs a film production company, Duet, which has produced films such as Azhagiya Theeye, Poi, Mozhi, and Velli Thirai that were well-apprecieated by audiences and film critics. His films have very good themes and storylines, splendid screenplays, and above all, maverick and attractive advertising; for example, the promos of Azhagiya Theeye.

At present, the suave filmmaker is producing and acting in Abhiyum Naanum, whose audio will be launched on September 27th by Kalaignar Karunanidhi and his daughter Kanimozhi (as the film reflects the sentiments and emotions pertaining to father-daughter relationship). Prakashraj had given a beautiful performance in Kancheepuram  a film by Priyadarshan  alongside Shreya Reddy. The film, which is based on true incidents, speaks about weavers of Kancheepuram, who were an ill-treated sector of the society in the 40s, and their revolt against the oppressing authorities and system. The versatile actor is also producing Mayilu, which also will be released soon.

Vijay is afraid of Nayantara

Vijay's most expected Villu is to hit the screen for Pongal 2009.  Vijay is starring with Nayantara and Vijay is worried a lot about the luck of his pair.

Almost majority of Nayantara movies are failing in box office and none of the movie which projected and advertised a lot about Nayantara is sure for flop.  Example:  Kuselan and Sathyam

Vijay is said to be advising his producer not to highlight much on Nayantara.

ts Kamalhassan who identified Bollywood's Devi Sri Prasad as his music director for the movie Dasavatharam.

After Dasavatharam, Kollywood went begging with Prasad giving opportunities and money and two movies, Kandasamy and Villu managed to book him as their music director!

Prasad has done his job for the movie Kandasamy, while for Villu, he is yet to put the Pillaiyaar Suli!

Only one song for Villu is complete, which Vijay is not happy.

Vijay to fight and dance in 'Pandhayam'?

Director S A Chandrasekhar's 'Pandhayam' starring Nithin Sathya, Prakash Raj and Sindhu Tolani is almost complete.

Buzz is that Vijay had performed in a guest role in the film. He plays the actor himself. Sources close to the director say, 'Chandrasekhar has accommodated more scenes than originally planned for Vijay in the movie.

Though initial plans were to cast Vijay in a small cameo, the director has ended up shooting a stunt sequence and a song featuring his son'.

However he has chosen to keep details about Vijay's role inside the closet as of now considering the 'Kuselan' fiasco. More scenes for Vijay would be good news for Vijay fans. Obviously they would love to see more of their favorite hero on screen.

If Vijay is so successful at present, obviously the person behind him is none other than his father S.A.Chandrashekar who kept attempting for his son's success directing him in 9 films that didn't do well at box-office. However, extending his full support and encouraging him, today Vijay holds the title of 'Naalaiya Superstar'. Vijay who has recently faced flops with continuously with Azhagiya Tamizh Magan and Kuruvi is expects a lot with his forthcoming film 'Villu' directed by Prabhu Deva. Vijay style in Villu

Director Prabhu Deva and Vijay are putting in all their efforts to bring out Villu as mass entertainer. The director has in fact taken extra care where Vijay's style in Villu is concerned. While in their earlier venture Pokkiri, Vijay was seen donning a scarf in the entire film, in Villu he will be seen nibbling his shirt collar. According to the director, this new style has reached well among Vijay fans. Likewise, the name of Vijay's character in Pokkiri was Thamizh and in Villu it will be Pugazh. Looks like with every new film with Vijay, Prabhu Deva plans to give a new dimension to his career.

Kollywood's grapevine is buzzing with news that Vijay is highly impressed with the script narrated to him by Babu, Dharani's assistant director. We will have to wait and see if he will take up the project or not. Recently, Vijay acted in Kuruvi, directed by Dharani and the film, with all the trade mark elements of a Vijay film, did well at box office. At present, the actor is busy filming Villu directed by Prabhu Deva. Expectations are high as Vijay and Prabhu Deva already produced a blockbuster together – Pokkiri. Vijay is 50th Film

Vijay, who accepts offers based on the talents of the director and never cares about how fame the director is. Vijay is successful in his career even never wanting to act under BIG directors of Kollywood. Vijay takes risk. For example his ATM and Kuruvi failed, still he acts for Villu which is directed by Prabhu Deva for whom this is the first Tamil movie. The only change is Vijay has dropped Trisha and is now pairing with Nayantara. After Villu, Vijay will be starring in a movie to be produced by AVM Saravanan and he has already taken a token advance for the same. After AVM's project, Vijay will start doing his 50th movie which will be produced by his dad but directed by some one else.

Since Ajith goes selective, Aegan will be creating flutters when released for Deepavali. Vijay's movies are doing very bad in theaters in recent times and he wants to give a break through Vil which is being released on Deepavali day. Vijay and Prabhu Deva change Nayantara

Tiff over Trisha and Nayantara never seems to be ending and media channels are have been centering on their issue over for a long time. Nayantara was supposed to be pairing up with Vijay for the film Kuruvi and somehow Trisha with her professional ethics replaced her. With the film turning out to be a great flop, Vijay has decided not to pair up with her anymore and went on for Nayantara for his film Villu directed by Prabhu Deva. Prabhu Deva had developed a character for Nayantara that has a homely girl kind of role. However, after getting to take a look at her sizzling stills in Satyam, both Vijay and Prabhu Deva were perplexed whether audiences would accept nayan in a homely after watching her with sultry looks in Satyam. So both of them have decided and come to a conclusion of changing her characterization in the film…

He thought he would work on the subject later as he was occupied with quite a lot of films at that point. But after a few days, his father told him that he has decided to cast Nithin Sathya in the lead, to which Vijay happily agreed. When Chandrasekhar spoke, he said that he could have very well waited for Vijay, but he decided not to because he was afraid of working with Vijay. He said that Vijay has grown in stardom, but he is still the same old strict director. He said his strictness could create friction between them, which he wanted to avoid.

Villu vijay and Nayantara

'Ilaya Thalapathy' Vijay is busy shooting for 'Villu'. The movie, directed by Prabhudeva and produced by Ayngaran Films International, kicked off in Karaikudi recently. A number of scenes featuring Vijay and Nayantara were shot in Karaikudi. And now the buzz is that the crew would shoot a major portion of the film in Italy. The script involves a foreign country in the second half and so the crew will be heading for Italy this July. Sources close to Prabhu Deva reveal that he has also planned to shoot two song sequences in exotic Italy. It sure would be interesting to see Vijay chasing and hunting down the baddies in this European country. Nayantara sizzled with her attitude and attractive modern costumes in 'Billa' and the movie was set in Malaysia. So, foreign destinations suit her big time and with Nayantara on song now, one can expect Prabhu Deva to exploit her talents. Vijay and Nayantara on the prowl in Italy….sounds interesting.

Vijay and Vairamuthu on Audio launch

During the audio launch of Muniyandi Moondraam Aandu Vilangiyal, Vairamuthu was speaking against the culture of Kuththu dance in Kollywood cinemas. When Vijay spoke after Vairamuthu in the function, he said he has a very special place for those Kuththu dances and he love the song Sticker Vatcha Ponnu in the movie. This has angered and upset Vairamuthu. Vairamuthu is airing his anger among his friends circle. As Vairam has lots of friends, Vijay is also feeling the heat of Vairam's anger. According to Vijay, a man will enjoy a theme while the other will oppose it and its a universal theory. Vijay is now straight away ridiculing Vairam and its for sure that the war between them will reach Himalayan peak and we will get lots of news in coming days!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay plans to celebrate his 35th birthday in style on Sunday, June 22. Vijay becomes the fourth Tamil actor in recent times after Rajinikanth, Vijaykanth and Sarath Kumar to have his own flag for his fan club- Akhila India Vijay Rasigar Narpani Mandiram (AIVRNM). If Rajini's flag had light blue, white and red with the superstar's image imprinted in a star in it, Vijay's is also said to be similar with his face embossed on it. It also clearly proves that the star nurses political ambitions. The big bash is taking place at the University of Madras, Centenary Hall at 4.30 PM and entry is by invitation only. Vijay is Kuruvi 50days completed

Director Dharani's earlier project Ghilli with Vijay and Trisha was a blockbuster victory that had set some kind of fast paced mood, tempo and expectations about this duo in the minds of their fans. They entered the theatre this evening eagerly to catch this maiden production venture of Udhaynidhi Stalin's Red Giants Movies - produced Kuruvi. The secrecy shrouding the story of the film had also helped in escalating its anticipations to a barometric high. Producer Udhaynidhi has spent generously which is perceptible in the lavish sets, colorful junior artists, graphics etc. Dharani's favorite music composer Vidyasagar's tunes are already a hit and the melodious 'then then' number is a revelation, both visually and acoustically. Trisha is at her glamorous best. Ashish Vidyarthi and Suman do not have meaty enough roles to prove their mettle. Camera work and editing is slick. Vivek, who accompanies Vijay, provides occasional comic relief. If you go to see Kuruvi with lowered expectations, you may end up liking it. But those who are looking for big build-up sequences and large Ghilli-like payoffs - stay away. Kuruvi - Mega Hit Movie Vasool chakkaravarthi : vijay

Nayanthara plays as Vijay's lady love for the first time in her career. Though she appeared in an item number in Sivakasi along with the actor, she is yet to play as his lady in any of the films. Actress Nayanthara Bags Impressive Role With Vijay

The career graph of Nayanthara, the beautiful actress from Kerala, has been increasingly climbing with plum coursework in her kitty. She began her Tamil innings in Aiyya with Sarathkumar and went on to do the role of Durga in Chandramukhi who wooed the Super star. Her 'balalaika' number in Sivaji has enabled her to capitalize her position in the industry very well. Now, with Billa, expectations have reached an all time high and the stills of the film reveal a svelte and suave Nayan. She is on an enviable track now with projects like 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' with Dhanush and Sathyam with Vishal. She has been carving a niche for herself in Tollywood too where she has been paired with admired actors like Nagarjuna and Ravi Teja to name a few. She was in the fray for the role of Vijay's heroine in Kuruvi but missed it narrowly to Trisha. However her patience seems to have paid off as she has signed on the dotted line for an unnamed project to be directed by Prabhu Deva with Ilaya Thalapathy as the hero. Vijay will join Prabhu Deva after he wraps up Dharani's Kuruvi. The grouping of Vijay and Nayan under Prabhu Deva's direction is something to look forward to.

Yes… your guess is correct. She is none other than Trisha, the cute actress of South Screen! In an interview to a Tamil Magazine, the actress says that she is very proud to be heard herself as the most successful pair of the actor. Kuruvi is the fourth film of Trisha with Vijay after her successful combination in films Gilli, Thiruppachi and Aadhi. Answering to a question she said: "It is great to hear that I'm the most successful onscreen pair to an actor like Vijay. He is very close friend of mine and very comfortable to me on sets. He is very sweet person and very easy when moves around co stars. Whenever he calls me for his films I do not miss chance. That much of rapport we have been maintaining so far…" Commenting about her co stars, she says that she is never having enmity with any of the leading heroines at present. According to Trisha, she is maintaining good relationship with all leading heroines like Nayanthara, Shreya and Asin.

On the sets of Kuruvi!

Vijay-Trisha starrer Kuruvi, directed by Dharani, started off on a tight schedule of shooting. Huge sets were put up at the MGR Film City where a song sequence and some scenes were shot. Then the crew continued the shoot in Irungaattukottai. Another set was also put up at Sriperambudur. Recent rains in the city postponed the shooting for two days. The call sheets of a group of models brought from Mumbai and Bangalore for the song sequence went waste due to the postponement. The models have been booked and paid in advance. But the delay and the subsequent wastage does not seem to bother the crew and they are back in action.

Vijay will not act with Vadivelu

You may have known about Vadivelu behaviours which have changed recently. Because of this the actors, director and producer are not really happy with him. Reports say he doesn't turn up to the shooting spot as per his call sheets. For the movie Villu there is sequence in Switzerland with Vijay, Nayanthara, Prakash Raj, Sriman and Vadivelu but Vadivelu sent a massage through his assistant that he will not come for the schedule since because he is busy with another project. As a result Sriman and Prakash Raj was sent back from Switzerland even after the producer London karunaas of Ayngaran International have requested him to They end up just shooting a song sequence with Vijay and Nayanthara. Vijay got annoyed and confirmed that he wouldn't act with Vadivelu anymore. Leading director and producers have decided not to involve Vadivelu in any of their project.

Vijay and Vadivelu

Seems like Vijay has missed his combination scenes with Vadivelu in Kuruvi so much that he left no stones unturned to make sure he is a part of his next venture. According to sources close to producers, Vadivelu has been roped in for Vijay's next Prabhu Deva directed project for jaw dropping astronomical sums. It is also said that Vadivelu has had to amend his commitments for other already agreed projects to make room for Vijay.

Kuruvi - Movie Review

Director Dharani's earlier project Ghilli with Vijay and Trisha was a blockbuster victory that had set some kind of fast paced mood, tempo and expectations about this duo in the minds of their fans. They entered the theatre this evening eagerly to catch this maiden production venture of Udhaynidhi Stalin's Red Giants Movies - produced Kuruvi. The secrecy shrouding the story of the film had also helped in escalating its anticipations to a barometric high.

Scaling high-rise buildings, bowing down to bullets elegantly, Kuruvi opens with Vijay in his best nonchalant style, sending his fans into raptures. If the same care and hard work that had gone into rendering a weighty build up for Vijay had also been employed in the story department, it would have been a Ghilli-like encore for this team. As it happens, Kuruvi flies short of Ghilli.

Vijay having to free his father and his colleagues who have been trapped as slaves under villains Ashish Vidyarthi and Suman forms the crux of Kuruvi. The director has attempted to ride on the twin horses of action and comedy, moving the film at a very rapid pace, while simultaneously depicting Vijay at his humorous best. However, his objective seems to be too elusive and the film sags at various levels.

Ashish Vidyarthi and Suman (Sivaji fame) are compatriots in the quarry business who have given out a contract to Vijay's dad, Manivannan, in Cudappa, Andhra Pradesh. Diamonds that are otherwise only found in Africa are said to be located in this area, but the government issues a ban to excavate the place owing to the risk of earthquakes. But the baddies force Manivannan to go against the law and make him and his group bonded laborers. Manivannan challenges the villains that his son would avenge him once he learns of this. But Vijay, who is in Chennai, thinks that his dad has gone under cover due to debts and is hopeful of his return one day. Meanwhile, a cheque for 50 lakhs that Manivannan had issued as collateral towards the house, bounces-forcing Vijay to vacate their house. Vijay asks the landlords a week's time to pay back the money and sets out on a mission to Malaysia to find the person whose signature is on the cheque.

He travels to Malaysia as a kuruvi- one who is used as a runner to carry and bring back goods. There he runs into Suman's residence. A scuffle with him results in Vijay stealing Suman's diamond in a Zorro-like costume which leaves Trisha,-Suman's sister, in a mesmerizing trance. She promptly falls in love. Along with her brother, she lands in Chennai in search of Vijay. Each of them search, but with different objectives. How the lead stars reach their respective goals forms the rest of the story.

Ashish Vidyarthi and Suman

do not have meaty enough roles to prove their mettle. Camera work and editing is slick. Vivek, who accompanies Vijay, provides occasional comic relief.

If you go to see Kuruvi with lowered expectations, you may end up liking it. But those who are looking for big build-up sequences and large Ghilli-like payoffs - stay away.

Vijay surprised by Dhoni

Vijay surprised by Dhoni

Vijay and Dhoni have found a fan in each other! Before Vijay was to meet the star cricketer, he thought, "I was feeling like - I am going to meet a big cricket captain - but he was so down-to-earth. He said, 'Hey I know you, I've seen you on TV', and he made me feel so very comfortable." Dhoni responded by saying, "He's a great guy, I've met him just once

during the launch function. It'll be interesting to know him better and of course the film industry here too – that'll be a relaxing time."

The Chennai Superkings take on Mumbai Indians today. As IPL Chennai's brand ambassador Vijay is confident of a spectacular turn out. "Definitely all my fans will come – they are all cricket lovers too so they'll definitely come and cheer the team. Besides my support, the team will also have my fans' support. "I saw the Mohali match. We've taken 250 runs which no other team's got so far – ours is a strong team that can win under any circumstances – my mind's totally in tomorrow's match," he said at a press conference yesterday.

With two stars, one from cinema and one from cricket, to cheer the team and lead the team, respectively, today's match will be special treat for fans of Dhoni and Vijay.

Controversy over Kuruvi lyrics!

In less than a week of its release Kuruvi audio has managed to grab attention. If not for the songs, the lyrics have sure attracted uncalled for publicity. The Mozha Mozhannu song, sung by Kay Kay and Anuradha Sriram, is in the eye of the storm for it contains the name Thillaiaadi Valliamma in its lyrics. Although no derogatory references or remarks have been made, the mere mention of the freedom fighter's name has drawn flak from certain sections of the society.

Valliammai, a South African Tamil woman, joined Mahatma Gandhi at the age of 16 and fought for the abolition of the Indian Poll Tax. Following the controversy, lyricist Pa. Vijay has offered unconditional apology for hurting people's sentiments. Sources also state that the name will be removed from Mozha Mozhannu song.

Kuruvi song in trouble

The audio release of Kuruvi, directed by Dharani and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, took place in Little Flower Convent, Chennai. Ghilli's successful team, comprising Vijay, Trisha, Dharani and Vidyasagar, is coming together again in this romance-action entertainer.

Recently, a song from Kuruvi has stirred up a storm in a teacup. 'Mozhamozhannu' belted out by Kay Kay and Anuradha Sriram, is a typical folk song with a traditional folksy touch. The song is punchy and in Vijay's signature style.

'Thilaiyadi Valliyamayi' is the line in the song 'Mozhamozhannu' that's caught the moral police's attention. Since 'Thilaiyadi Valliyamayi' is the name of a freedom fighter, an objection was raised. P. Vijay, the lyricist, has come forward to apologize for hurting any sentiments, saying that since they weren't aware of the fact and the name rhymed with the tune of the song, it was incorporated in the song.

The makers have assured the public that the name 'Thilaiyadi Valliyamayi' would be removed henceforth.

Kuruvi Remake of ‘Transporter’?

Kuruvi Remake of 'Transporter'?

The Vijay-Trisha starrer Kuruvi is supposedly inspired by the Hollywood blockbuster Transporter! The English flick is a pacey action-packed movie that has jason statham in the lead. Jason plays a man on a mission – where he needs to physically transport a person from one place to another, without anyone's knowledge, of course. But Jason has a bunch of rules he never breaks, no matter what. Well, the script seems easy enough to adapt to Kollywood style by throwing in a couple of deadly stunts and love scenes, of course!

But then, this could just be one of those half-baked truths!!

Vijay’s ‘Andavan’

All that Vijay had removed from the string of words is 'Andavan solran'.

The perfect system that Vijay used to follow was to choose the next film when he was completing one. But that system is temporarily broken now.

Now he has gone back to his old ways. While working in 'Kuruvi', he has given the responsibility of choosing his next film to Prabhu Deva. After completing the film produced by Ayangaran International, he has given call sheet to a film by R.B.Choudhary.

The story is by an assistant who had worked with the directors like Maduravan and others. The title of the film is 'Andavan'.

It is a chance for Vijay fans to put up posters exclaiming 'Engal Andavare'!

Vijay to float a political wing soon

image

Following Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar, it seems Vijay is getting ready to float a political wing through his fan club.

He was at Dharmapuri to distribute charity to the needy, which was arranged by the trust operating in the name of remembering his sister. Vijay was found very sentimental.

He said that "Even though I lost my sister in my young age, and was filled with sorrow, now after I became an actor, my sorrows are reduced because now I have 1000s of sisters through my fans (all girls, who are fan of him, are his sisters, according to him)"

He says that "I receive more than 500 letters daily and atleast 300 are from females and in that atleast 250 addresses me as "Anna""

He also added "In the Erode meeting I announced that I will bring a flag to my fan club. For this reason, don' t assume that I am going to float a political party immediately."

It seems he is getting ready to sit on the CMs chair in a planned period of time.
